14th Oct 2023 - Marquee weddings!

Oh wow! What a night!

Evening all, we had an amazing gig this weekend and played the wedding of J & L in the grounds of L's parents HUGE house in Devon. A marquee was set up on the tennis court and after much work by the lovely Gemma at Westcountry Wedding Planner planning the event to a tee, we arrived, set up, played the first dance and then had a super party.

This week i'll be back on Twitch performing - /live-streaming so swing on by.

PHIL NEWS! A busy end of year coming up....

Afternoon all….

I hope you're all well out there.

It's a busy end of the year for me coming up but the BIG news is my band, New Heroes have the Xmas residency up at Sandy Park for the December Xmas parties. Every Fri/Sat (and the odd Thursday) we'll be providing all the entertainment for the Xmas run in. This means we get to play to 600 people at least twice a week and I can tell you, we thrive with a big audience.

We in the rehearsal room working on our set along with a few Xmas classics to keep that dancefloor filled and make sure everyone is in the xmas spirit.

You can book a table for your xmas party here - SANDY PARK PARTIES Don't miss out!

QUESTION - What Xmas songs should we learn?? What are the best ones??

Also I've updated my public gigs for the rest of the year, we'll still playing weddings and parties throughout Oct/Nov so they are limited but if you fancy popping along, be sure to say hi. Here is a link to all those gigs - /public-gigs

Greendale Farm shop plus other news.

Hey folks.

It's been a long time since my last blog and I'm very keen to make this a regular feature now gigs have become more sporadic and it would be nice to connect with you all out there and see how you're doing and to let you know what I'm up to!

Firstly, in these tough times, it's been wonderful to have a regular Saturday evening slot at Greendale Farmshop restaurant. Was a slow start as they try to incorporate live entertainment to go along the amazing food they serve but it's building fantastically well with a full restaurant (socially distanced) last week so we're hoping for more of the same this week. It was a special treat for me to see some friends plus some of the brides and grooms I've sang for before, thank you!

I highly recommend trying it out as we all need a bit more live music in our lives so pop along and say hi! You can book by calling them on 01395 232836

It was great to play my first wedding in 6 months last Monday at Chagford church, I've really missed the whole vibe of weddings, everyone is happy and in a fine mood with a eye on celebration plus there is something pretty special about singing in a Church so thanks to Jade and Ed for having me sing for them. It's been a tough 6 months for all the brides/grooms/families with the goalpost having shifted numerous times and I have the utmost respect for the way they've dealt with the way the year has gone. Not easy!

Next year, as you can imagine is looking to be incredibly busy for me and the band (New Heroes) with weddings/gigs and shifted to 2021 so we all have our fingers crossed for better news in the coming months

We're also in the middle of producing a few new videos, my day today is going to be spent recording guitar parts in the home studio so expect that to release in the next 2 weeks - no clues as of yet but feels pretty apt for the times!

We spent Lockdown making a few videos with our NHS special making it onto BBC Radio Devon and was real fun to be interviewed by Sarah Gosling for her show. If you've not seen it yet you can check it out here - Every Day We Go Out Less and Less

Also I want to start live streaming on a regular basis if that's something folks are interested in? It went really well at the start of the lockdown period and thanks to you guys I was able to raise some funds for Hospiscare, where my wife Hazel recently started working as a nurse there. Thanks to all who contributed!

That's it for now, I'm gonna get my head down for the day and record guitar tracks so see you all soon.

25/10/17 - Busy week Ahead

Hey guys

Welcome to the new blog page on my website. This gives all the goings on in my musical life!

So what is happening this week??

Besides a busy guitar teaching schedule from my home studio in Exeter I have 4 gigs this week to play and i've pretty excited as they are all so diverse. No time to get bored!!

Thurs

I'll be off to the Double Locks in Exeter to play a fantastic wedding for Jeanette and her partner from Cornwall who found my website and liked what they saw and booked me to play their drinks reception and evening party plus a DJ set to finish off. So I get to play an acoustic set with some looping and some electric guitar to get the party in full swing!

Fri

Is my regular slot at Timepiece Nightclub in Exeter. It's a pretty mad evening as the students know how to party! I usually do this in a duo with my New Heroes band drummer Tom providing the beats. 10pm-12pm - Timepiece

Sat

I'll be performing with my party band New Heroes in Charmouth, Dorset. A new venue for me called Newlands Holiday Park. This gives me the chance to get people on the dancefloor with a rocking set of classics! If you've not seen our band before you can check us out here - New Heroes

Sun

To round off a busy week the band head to Tiverton, Devon for the first time to play a new venue that is thriving and love a live Band - The Bank Bar/Cafe. They have a Facebook page so why not come along and round off your weekend in style - Bank Cafe

Monday means the end of half term and back to the classroom where i deliver guitar lessons to students studying Rockschool and BTEC qualifications. More on that in my next blog.
